So, starting Sunday (the 18th), I noticed a very interesting trend in my sales: they skyrocketed in the UK. I’m not sure what happened, but I wanted to say thank you for buying my books and I truly hope you’re enjoying them.
Things are starting to settle down a bit here. We’re getting close to starting our school year, and I’m getting things finished up so we’ll be ready to go on our first day. I’ve got a few more materials to prep, but I’m pretty confident that I’m very well organized and ready to go.
I’ve figured out some plot issues I was having with my current manuscript, and am making some major progress there, as well. I’ve figured out exactly where things are going and how they’re going to get there, now it’s just a matter of getting it all down on paper – er, computer screen. I didn’t get much done yesterday, as the kids and I were gone most of the day enjoying some fun with our homeschooling group, and I was exhausted by the time I got home.
Some people think that I must feel starved for conversation and company, being a writer and in my own head so much. But the truth is, as much as I love people, events like yesterday wear me out. I am very much an introvert. I love my kids, and my friends, but spending time with huge groups of people in very public places is just exhausting. It’s nothing against the people I hang out with (well, except for instances such as fairs or other events where I’m surrounded by strangers other than my kids), it’s just…me. I come home and I just want to sleep – which is exactly how I felt last night, and that led to me getting almost no writing done.
So today, we’re taking it easy. Of course, taking it easy means I’ve already beaten my kids at Scrabble and exceeded my daily writing goal – and I’m not done yet. We’ll enjoy some time in the pool this afternoon, and a light dinner, and then I will get some more writing done.
I certainly have some serious motivation: I have readers waiting for the chance to pick up another of my books. So again, I say thank you!
