As an indie author, I use CreateSpace to publish the print copies of my book. In the past, they’ve charged for expanded distribution, and as a single mom, paying for that simply wasn’t an option. But I’m very excited to report that they have now made expanded distribution FREE. What this means is that other booksellers and online retailers, libraries, even schools will now have the ability to stock my books.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you’ll walk into your bookstore and find it on the shelves. But it does mean that you can go to your bookstore and ask them to order it for you – and they’ll be able to.
If you’re one of those people who just prefers to have a real book in their hands (and there is no other feeling like it, is there?) and for whatever reason you haven’t been comfortable ordering online (or maybe you just really don’t like Amazon and refuse to give them your business?), this will allow you to get those trade paperbacks wherever you want.
The ebook versions will still remain available exclusively through Amazon, for the time being.
I just got the expanded distribution set up today, so it’ll take about 6-8 weeks before you’ll be able to find them, but that’s just in time for Christmas, right? 🙂
