No book review today (but I believe I have three coming up next week for you).
Today’s post is actually going to be pretty short and sweet.
It’s been raining here for about two or three weeks straight now. Not 24/7, but extensively enough to leave parts of my street underwater, eliminate all possibility of swimming, and pretty much make life fairly miserable if you’re the sort who likes to get outside for at least a little while everyday (hint: that would be me and my kids.).
We’ve been getting out of the house to head to the movies a couple of times a week, taking advantage of a local theater that offers a couple of movies a week for $1 a ticket, which actually ends today. We’re seeing the last movie today, which is bittersweet. It’s not much fun because it means that summer is beginning to come to an end, but it’s also kind of nice, because unfortunately, movie days are often not much use for getting anything accomplished in terms of writing.
We’re not ready to start back to school yet (as homeschoolers, we can choose our own start date, and we choose September), but I do have to get started figuring out a few things in order to make sure that we’re ready when the day arrives. So that’s a fairly time consuming task that’s making its way to my to-do list.
I’ve been reading like crazy to get books ready to be reviewed as part of my Summer of Love here on the site, and I only have about three more left. There are a couple of books that were going to be reviewed, but I ended up not enjoying them and felt I couldn’t, in good conscience, review them as part of the Summer of Love – the books are just coming out and the point of the blog tour is to build up buzz. Good buzz. While I may review the books at some point, with total honesty, it won’t be right now. As a writer myself, I know that it can be frustrating to get bad reviews, especially when you’re trying to get some good momentum going, and I won’t ruin that for them right out of the gate. I wouldn’t want it done to me, and I’m a big believer in the Golden Rule that way.
And now, I’m off! Lots to do, and it won’t get done if I’m sitting here. Why don’t you tell me what you’ve been up to this summer?
