Beach Day W

On Monday, my kids and I headed to the coast for the day with a friend and her kid. We found some off-beach yet incredibly convenient parking by a beautiful beach area, and spread out all our stuff: sheets to sit on, coolers, bags of towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. A day at the beach requires a lot of stuff, if you’ve never noticed. But it was all worth it.

I don’t know if it’s the sand, the water, the air, or a combination of all three, but there’s something about being at the beach that is incredibly relaxing and refreshing. It rained on us two or three times, and by the time we left, a huge and nasty storm was rolling in, but even with that, we didn’t want to leave. Every bit of stress just melts away. Every muscle in your body stretches and loosens and you feel incredible. We joked several times that we could just live right there on the beach where we were, but it wasn’t entirely a joke either.

I took a ton of great photos while we were there, some just of the beach which will be shared on Patreon (and eventually on Dream Energy Photography), and some of the kids which will be shared with friends and family. I also took a walk along the beach with the kids, our feet being kissed by the water as we strolled along. I spent time in the water, and a lot of time talking with my friend.

It all combined to create a day that was like hitting a reset button for me. I came home feeling rejuvenated, and more relaxed than I have in a while. Over the days since, I’ve also noticed a growing motivation, and an idea beginning to build in the back of my mind – an idea for a book. I’m not starting it yet, it’s not quite to that point, but it’s giving me hope  that things will be back to normal soon.

We took the rest of the week off, but soon, we’ll be back to work. I’ll be editing photos, sorting them and prepping them for sharing with the world. We’ll be back to school, as well, working hard as we make our last push to finish out our school year before the summer. The first part of the week will be busier than the end, as we have some things happening that require a heavier workload so that the end of the week is open. That first day will be rough, but we’ll get back into the swing of things.

Breathtaking W

I’m hopeful that maybe by the next time I blog, I’ll be able to tell you that I’m writing again. But if not, I’ll at least have some new photos to share over on the other site.

How’s your week? Busy or relaxed?
