Goodreads 2016 Reading Challenge

As a writer, it’s probably pretty obvious that one of my biggest hobbies is reading. Last year, I participated in Goodreads 2015 Reading Challenge. I set a goal of 75 books, and read 77. Because of that, I set my goal at 80 books this year. I wanted to challenge myself, of course. That is the point, after all, right? […]

Finding my routine after the new year

We rang in the new year, slept in on the first day of 2016, and took down the Christmas decorations on the second day of the year. The weekend was cold and rainy for us, so that meant it was also very lazy and relaxed. This, of course, means that today, I’m a little off-balance. It’s still rather chilly, although […]

Fantasy of romance vs reality

As an adult, I’ve had enough relationships to realize that they don’t all end in happy ever after, and that happy for the moment is the best we get sometimes. I’ve learned who I am, both in and out of a relationship, and that it’s important that I retain that knowledge and don’t let go of it in an attempt to hold on to a relationship that simply isn’t meant to be. I can support friends as they struggle to work out problems in a relationship, and lend a shoulder to cry on when they walk away, as well as smile happily at their weddings or the births of their children.

Running late today

My day got off to a rough start. I woke up around 4:30 with a nasty headache that’s only just gone away in the last half hour or so. I was able to go back to sleep for a while, but it didn’t help with the pain, and it was a restless sleep, so it might have actually done more […]

Excitement, followed by disappointment

I’ve been doing NaNoWriMo this month, but I haven’t really said anything about it. I’ve mainly kept it quiet because things have been so hectic that it was really uncertain whether or not I’d actually finish. As of yesterday, I was quite hopeful that I would. I was very excited, even into this morning. But now that I’m into my […]

Internet issues

I have Brighthouse for cable, Internet and phone. Can I just say they suck? I’m writing today’s post on my phone because it’s the only Internet I  have at the moment. Brighthouse calls this am unplanned outage, but this happens to me all the time. Like almost every day. They charge an arm and a leg, plus your firstborn child, […]

Holiday Planning

I’ve been doing my holiday planning, working out the details of the meals, and when to Christmas shop, and putting holiday parties on the schedule. I realized one day late last week that while I’ve been working on my personal planning, I completely forgot about professional holiday planning: holiday marketing promotions. I spent the weekend toying with some ideas, and […]

Someday I'll be back on track (maybe)

Last week, when I said I was getting back on track, apparently I lied. It was a false sense of progress. As I explained last week, I’d had to get a new laptop because my old one was dying. The first one I got, a Dell, had a defective touchpad that stopped working during the setup process. After two and […]

A step back

I’ve been working hard on a book. At the same time, I’ve also been trying to take care of my house, my kids, and homeschool my kids. We have field trips, park days, and other activities that take up more time beyond just the actual teaching and planning. And in the middle of all that, I’ve also been attempting to […]
